V 3.3.0 released 09 April 2025
V 3.3.2 released 07 May 2025
These versions are fully compatible with each other
For technical reasons, the Android variant of this version is not available on Google Play. It can be downloaded from the Kippsware web site.
We are not currently aware of any problems in this release.
Android only
The "Reset database" function is available, see Kippsware Common Functions / Reinitialising the database.
Android only
A situation was identified in V 3.3.0 that could cause a crash if a filter were applied after the app had been reentered without being previously stopped. This problem has been corrected in V 3.3.1. Only the Android variant is affected.
A number of errors in the user interface have been corrected.
Desktop only
The user interface has been reworked. The shopping list has been moved to a separate window with its own menu for shopping functions. The software can now recognize the whether shopping or making a shopping list from the window in focus. An explicit mode change is no longer necessary.
The changes only effect the Android variant.
V 3.2.1 and V 3.2.3 were required only for internal reasons. They contain no changes that affect user functions.
From V 3.2.2, the system file picker is used for selecting / writing external files. Thus backups, for example, can now be written to globally available directories such as Documents and Downloads.
The Android variant has been updated for compatibility with Android V 14.
Problems with native synchronisation (server error reported) have been resolved.
This version is compatible with the current version of the licence server. There are no changes to the documented licensing procedure. However, licenses that have already been installed will be reset and the software must be relicensed. The licenses available to a user will not be reduced by this procedure.
The software now supports the synchronization method "native synchronization" as well as synchronization via Dropbox.
An issue with synchronisation on Android devices has been corrected. This problem could cause changes made on an Android device to be lost on synchronisation, and in some cases might have caused a program crash.
Help functions that reference the internet now use the new site kippsnet.eu.
Both the Android and desktop variants of this version use the kippsware licensing model. It follows that the Android variant is not available on Google play, but can be downloaded from our download page .
Handling of the on/off switch for help texts now works correctly on all variants.
Minor error corrections.
A problem with automatic synchronisation in V 2.3.4 has been corrected. Synchronisation now takes place as necessary.
Minor error corrections.
Sorting and display or shopping lists and item lists now uses the collation sequence of the current locale. The main difference for latin characters is that accented characters are treated as directly following their unaccented equivalent.
Help switch off / switch on restores the state of show / don't show of individual texts to what it was before the swtch off. Reactivating all help is an option.
Error corrections (Android only):
Other changes
Adaption to new Dropbox interfaces
Changes to adapt to new interfaces implemented by Dropbox (in detail: Dropbox core SDK V 4.0.0, should you want to know) have been implemented.
This change is transparent to the user, except that special action is required on the first synchronisation following installation of the this
update. On the first synchronisation after update to this version, the Dropbox interface will reject the synchronisation with the message "Refresh
token not available". Repeat the synchronisation operation. You will be requested to re-authorise the app with Dropbox. After this has been done,
synchronisation will proceed as normal. Further synchronisations will function (as before) without further explicit authorisation.
This procedure is necessary on all devices.
Error corrections:
Corrections to the in-app licence purchase procedure have been implemented.
Enhancements
A new function allows the shopping list for a specific shop to be sorted in the order in which items are normally taken in that shop (see "Sort" in shopping mode). The app tries to note the order in which you usually take purchases, and construct a list order that takes account of this. This is only effective for shops in which you shop regularly and in the same order.
These changes only affect the Android variant. The current Android and desktop variants are fully data-compatible.
A number of minor corrections have been made. In addition, handling of synchronisation conflicts has been updated. This should resolve a number of problems connected with synchronisation of records deleted in one of the devices.
In V 2.3.3 the display could freeze on startup if the option "Automatic synchronisation" was set. This is now corrected.
The option "automatic synchronisation when necessary" is now handled correctly.
A problem with a sporadic crash of freeze on selection operations in the organiser is resolved.
Some improvements have been made to the appearance of the desktop windows. Specifically, tables that do not fill the space available no longer show white areas below them.
There were some outstanding issues arising from the corrections to filter behaviour in V 2.2.1. Specifically, the shop settings (the current shop selection, and other filters connected with a shop) were deleted if the app was terminated.
The "Do not show this again" box in the panel help texts should now always work as expected.
These issues only affected the Android variant. The Android Version 2.2.2 is fully compatible with the desktop version 2.2.0.
The following issues were new in V 2.2.0 and are corrected here.
After installing this version, it may be necessary to clear unnecessary duplicated filters. This is achieved most easily using the function "filter" / "clear all filters" in the organiser display.
These issues only affect the Android variant. The Android Version 2.2.1 is fully compatible with the desktop version 2.2.0.
Reorganisation (reordering) of the item classification tree in the Organiser could cause the app to crash on a following synchronisation. This problem is resolved.
Database handling on save / restore has been reworked to provide better error recovery in the case that files cannot be found or cannot be read or written.
A crash on initialising with the app with German preset data has been resolved.
The program icon has been modified to distinguish it from other KippsWare applications.
An install package for Mac OS X is now available.
The Android variant now conforms to the latest Google guidelines (targets Android level 28).
A problem that prevented the Android variant from registering itself as a dropbox client has been resolved. Connection to Dropbox and synchronisation now function as documented.
A minor correction was necessary which only affects the licence purchase procedure for the Android variant.
Formatting problems in the Android variant have been corrected (specifically: purchase status dialogue)
Automatic synchronisation is now performed correctly in the Android variant on app startup, if this option is set.
Attribute handling: Edit / Delete of attribute settings for purchase items did not work correctly (delete ignored, edit could cause crash). This has been corrected.
Date attribute filters now work correctly, with tests for equals, before, after.
Minor error corrections have been implemented. These should improve stability but have no functional significance.
The appearance of the Android variant has been improved, particularly in dialogues, and the software should adapt better to different screen sizes and resolutions.
Changes have been made to ensure compatibility with newer versions of Android (specifically, API Level 26). The user may see new system dialogues requesting permission to access external storage. Such access is required for the database backup and restore features.
The display of the organiser tree is now updated correctly after synchronisation or insert of new organiser categories. This problem only affected the Android variant.
A problem causing items entered via the shopping list function of IK-Eat to be not immediately visible has been corrected. The displays for this feature now operate as expected.
Restructuring in version 2.0.0 necessitated the renumbering of some help texts. If installing this version as an update of a version earlier than 2.0.0, help texts may appear although their display has been explicitly deactivated. Some texts that have not been explicitly deactivated may not appear. Text displays that are not required must be deactivated again (once). The functions to activate and deactivate all help texts, and to display a single help text, work as expected.
The software has been significantly restructured to enhance stability and provide a more efficient synchronisation process. Data management functions now conform to the descriptions in the Kippsware Common Functions manual , and are thus identical to the corresponding functions in IK-Eat. This affects database backup and restore and synchronisation.
The logic of panel sequencing in list setup modes has been changed. This should reduce handling errors when setting up lists and using the IK-Eat interface. In the PC variant, a new "Set mode" menu function is provided, which allows (and requires) the list setup and shopping modes to be explicitly set and cleared.
If user-defined attributes are defined and attached to shopping list items, filter operations are now identical for these and for built-in attributes (e.g. assigned shops, checklists). All settable filters appear in a common menu.
Filters are respected in list setup mode. A filter set in shopping preparation mode now continues to apply when list setup mode is entered. The visible list used for a list setup can thus be restricted if required. Filters may be set in list set-up mode and continue to apply when the mode is terminated.
Filters on the inventory list and the selected shop in the shopping list are remembered over a stop/restart of the app.
This version is compatible with the shopping list functions of IK-Eat V 1.1.0, including exporting IK-Shop recipes and handling requirements lists for IK-Eat recipes and dishes without recipes. For the PC variant, these options are provided by new functions in the "Organise" menu: "Read IK-Eat" and "Export recipe to IK-Eat". In the Android variant, the "Read IK-Eat" function is executed automatically when data is sent from IK-Eat. These functions are documented in the IK-Eat user manual. In connection with these functions, a new display "IK-Eat interface" is available. This is displayed automatically when required.
In addition, minor changes to improve stability have been made.
Minor technical changes have been made for improved stability. Additionally, references from the local help functions to the online documentation have been corrected and updated.
Minor technical changes have been made for improved stability. It is not absolutely necessary to install this version in place of 1.5.2. Replacing 1.5.0 is recommended.
Minor technical changes have been made for improved stability. It is not absolutely necessary to install this version in place of 1.5.1. Replacing 1.5.0 is recommended.
A remaining problem with the first-time use of the Dropbox synchronisation has been resolved.
This version now operates correctly with the Dropbox V2 API. Problems with synchronisation since End September 2017 arising from Dropbox interface changes are now resolved.
Android variant
Sporadic (sometimes continuous) loss of data updates and option changes on exiting the Android app variant have been resolved.
Under certain circumstances, it was possible that use of the function to define a new item would cause the app to crash. It was then impossible - even after a restart - to enter any new items. The error could only appear if at least 61 items were defined. This has now been corrected.
Android variant
Problems with backup and restore have been corrected. All backups - and only backups of the app in use are offered in the restore menu.
Links to the on-line manual from the help screen have been corrected.
This release is for Android only and is compatible with version 1.4.0 for desktop systems.
Android variant
Re-start (after exiting the app via BACK or HOME key) has been optimised.
In the shopping list view, the error causing some items not yet purchased to be incorrectly be coloured RED instead of blue has been corrected.
PC Variants
Improved window management - user changes to size and position of windows are remembered when windows are re-opened and when the program is restarted.
For Mac OS X installations, the window appearance now conforms to Mac conventions.
All variants
Minor improvements and error corrections in synchronisation have been implemented.
Problem with loss of shop assignments on synchronisation resolved.
Text improvements in help displays.
Android: Occasional wrong colour for selected items in item list (shown as future planning instead of "buy now") corrected.
The option for automatic dropbox synchronisation on is available in all variants.
"Learn mode" for shops has been implemented.
Minor error corrections have been performed - mostly concerning operation sequences in complex functions.
