This manual describes common functions for all KippsWare applications, for both Android and PC variants.
The functions described are available in all KippsWare applications. The software and user interface are identical for all software published after November 2017, and all updates to existing software released after that date, unless otherwise specified in the relevant status information. Screenshots illustrating the use of the functions described are taken from various apps. The background screen to illustrated input masks may therefore not correspond to the app you are using.
Illustrations are generally taken from the Android variant of the apps, unless there are specialities in the desktop variant that have to be considered separately. Note that dialogue masks are generally identical in content between the Android and Desktop variants. There are differences in the user operation - arising from the hardware differences - as described here .
PC variants are available as a Java archive file which should execute on any platform that supports standard Java, and as Windows and Mac OS X installable files. These files can be downloaded from the KippsWare web site download page .
The Android variant of the software is available only from the Google Play store. A link to the relevant entry in the store can be found in the introduction page of the documentation for each app (go to the KippsWare start page and click the relevant app).
Except where otherwise documented, the variants are functionally identical There are differences in the user interface, which are documented here .
The application-specific manuals reference this document were necessary.
The PC variants of all apps are currently free of charge and can be downloaded from the start page (see following section).
The Android variants of the apps can be downloaded free of charge, but are subject to restrictions on the volumes of data that can be stored. To remove these restrictions, the in-app purchase of a licence is necessary.
You can check the licence status at any time by selecting "Licence Status" from the system menu. This gives information about the volumes of data (usually, number of records) that can still be stored. If you attempt to add more data than is permitted a message will appear, allowing you to go to the Play Store to purchase a licence or to ignore the new data and continue. If you synchronise the database with a PC database containing more than data than allowed in the Android variant, data will be imported correctly. However, it will not be possible to make any further changes to the database until you purchase a licence or delete the extra data.
